Gathering Website Assets
What will you put on your website?
Be creative in what you place on your web site. If you decide you are not going to create an on-line
catalog of your products, then create web content about the products you provide. Additional pages can include
things like a published review of your business, a photo of you helping a customer, photos of your warehouse,
a map of the areas you provide service to, testimonial from satisfied customers, an informational video about
your company that you have posted on YouTube. Anything that can portray your company
and products or services are good candidates as a website asset.
Ready...Set...Go!
Once you have completed your "website planning" document and submitted it to your web
designer/web developer you will then need to gather all other "assets" (graphics in digital
format, PDF documents, page content in digital format, database details including a temporary
username and password to be used during testing, and any other files or documents that will be
used in the creation of your web site.)
Building a web site should be treated just as any other project your business does.
You will need to gather data and analyze your requirements.
During the website asset gathering step of the project you will begin to collect published data about your
company to not only give your Web Developer an idea of your type of business but
also to help you brainstorm on ideas about what you would like to present
on your site. Start gathering all of the already printed material that you
have about your business. Remember the more information you provide your Web
Designer up front the less time you will be billed in "consultation fees"!

- Digital Images & Logo

The more information and "assets" you have gathered into one central location,
the easier it will be to start building your web site. You should have these items ready before
the content creation of your web site.
