Keyword Creation:
Deciding on which keywords to use for each web page can take some time. Once you
know exactly how many pages will be created and what will be on each page begin
studying each page one by one. Treat each page as if it would be the first page
a user sees after a list of sites is returned from Google's search bar. You want to use different keywords on each page
because not every page is about the same thing. Listed below are the guidelines
SEO developers follow:
- Keywords should be page specific
- No more than 2-6 keywords per page
- No more than combined character length of 150 characters*
- Any keyword listed in the meta tag should be used in the web content of that
page.
People may know what they are looking for but not exactly what the item is
called so create similiar words with the same meaning. What words do you think
people might use in a seach engine that could possible get them to your website?
- Create a list of every city, county, community, and ZIP code that is within a
reasonable distance from your location.
- Have employees write a PARAGRAPH about what you do, or
an ARTICLE about what you have already done. Read over these pages to see
which words are used most often to describe your company or your
products/services.
